🏛️ Venue Overview

OP Jindal Global University (OP JGU) is located in Sonipat, Haryana, approximately 40 km north of Delhi, within the National Capital Region (NCR). The university campus is situated along NH-44 (formerly NH-1, the Grand Trunk Road), near Rai Industrial Area and Rajiv Gandhi Education City.

🚗 Travel to OP JGU

✈️ From Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, New Delhi

• Distance: ~70 km
• Travel Time: 2–2.5 hours, depending on traffic

Options from Airport:

• Metro + Taxi Hybrid Route
  Take the Airport Express Line from the Sarai Kale Khan – Nizamuddin metro station to New Delhi Station (20 min). Change to the Yellow Line toward Samaypur Badli → Get off at Haiderpur Metro, Shuttle Service to the venue is planned at regular intervals (Boarding gate number will be informed sooner). From there, book a taxi or cab (~1.5 hrs to campus, ₹800–₹1,000).
• Taxi / Ride-hailing (Ola, Uber, Rapido)
  Cost: ₹1,800–₹2,500. Recommended for direct, comfortable travel. Enter "OP Jindal Global University" as the destination.
• Pre-arranged Conference Shuttle
  Conference organisers have arranged a conference bus service from Haiderpur to the conference venue on the mornings of December 14, 15, 16, and 17, and from the university to Haiderpur metro station in the evenings. The O.P. Jindal Global University shuttle service, operating from AM to PM, will be shared here closer to the conference dates.

🚆 From New Delhi / Old Delhi / Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Stations

• Distance: 45–55 km
• Travel Time: 1.5–2 hours

• Indian Railways MEMU/Express trains
  Frequent MEMU or also known as local trains, from Delhi stations to Sonipat (SNP). Duration: 40–60 min, depending on the train category. From Sonipat Railway Station, take an auto or taxi (~20 min to campus, ₹250–₹350).
• Metro + Taxi Hybrid Route
  From Nizamidun Station or Hazrat Nizamuddin Metro Station: Take the Pink Line Metro from Sarai Kale Khan- Hazrat Nizamuddin Metro Station (10 min). Change to the Yellow Line at Dilli Haat - INA Metro Station toward Samaypur Badli → Haiderpur Metro, Shuttle Service to the venue is planned at regular intervals (Boarding gate number will be informed sooner). If you missed the shuttle, consider booking a taxi or cab (~1.5 hours to campus, ₹800–₹1,000).

🚗 Getting Around Locally

• Campus Taxis: OLA and Uber operate intermittently in the area.
• Local Auto-rickshaws: Available outside the university gate for short trips to Sonipat city or Murthal (₹100–₹300).
• Haryana State Transport and Local Transport Buses. A to-and-fro trip will cost 20-50 Rs.

• Please carry your own towels and toiletries to ensure sustainability.
• On-Campus: Several cafeterias, coffee outlets, and dining halls are available on campus.
• On the Highway to and from Delhi, Paratha Dhabas in Murthal are famous for their different kinds of stuffed Parathas -- Sukhdev, Amrik Sukhdev, and Garam Dharam.
• Convenience Stores: Daily needs shops are available on campus and near the main gate.

• Temperature: 8°C – 20°C
• Climate: Cool and pleasant; mornings can be foggy.
• What to Pack: Light woollens, shawls, N90 masks and a jacket; comfortable walking shoes for campus.
• Persons with respiratory issues should take necessary measures to protect themselves.

• Wi-Fi: Available throughout the JGU campus.
• Mobile Networks: Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone-Idea have good coverage.
• Electricity (for international delegates): 230V, 50Hz (standard Indian plug types C, D, and M).
• Currency Exchange: The best and most reasonable location is the Connaught Place, opposite Dilli Haat in New Delhi (Nearest Metro Station: Rajeev Chowk, accessible from the Yellow and Blue lines). Delhi airport has counters, but they are slightly expensive, and there are minimal options in Sonipat for currency exchange.
• ATMs: Available on campus (SBI, ICICI).

• Tomb of Khwaza Khizr– A tomb/maqbara located at Sonipat, was built by Ibrahim Lodi in memory of the muslim saint Khwaza Khizr.
• Kundli Market -- for local shopping.
• Tilyar Lake, Rohtak (40 km) -- scenic picnic spot.
• The Seoli Archaeological Site, Chhatera Mounds, Seoli Mound, also known as Redaji, is an archaeological site dating back to the second millennium BCE.
• Rakhigarhi Indus Valley Civilisation Museum (125 km) (especially for archaeology enthusiasts): A research facility and museum built in Rakhigarhi Indus Valley Civilisation Museum
• Murthal Dhabas (on the highway to Delhi) -- renowned for their North Indian culinary heritage.
