Winter School in Environmental STS

Of the many thematics around which global STS has developed over the years, environmental STS has emerged as a major one. This is also true of India, as was witnessed at the first STS-IN conference in Delhi NCR in December 2025, where the most number of panels were convened around the theme. This is no surprise, given not only the contemporary environmental crises and climate uncertainties, but also the crystallization of myriad sociotechnical knowledges, institutions, and popular movements that aim to address the problem.
The STS-IN Winter School is designed to take up key concepts, methodologies, and critical debates in Environmental STS. It is planned as a series of workshops to help sharpen participants’ conceptual understanding and refine research skills, while also helping to build a collaborative space for dialogue and engagement.

Fee
Rs. 1770 (1500 PLUS 18%GST) for students and practitioners with part-time/precarious employment,
Rs. 2360 (2000 PLUS 18% GST) for practitioners with full time jobs and Ph. D students with fellowships
*Fee includes access to workshops, accommodation for five nights (2-7 Feb) at IISER, food.
